Scheduling Timeline

January 

January 10 - Rising 10th-12th grade students receive scheduling information for the 2020-2021 school year in advisory. 

January 14 - Severna Park High School Counselors visit the rising 9th grade students in their math classes at Severna Park Middle School to distribute scheduling forms and provide course options.

 

January 14 - Evening scheduling presentations for parents @ Severna Park High School

January 15 through January 31 - PowerSchool Student Portal App is OPEN for students to enter course requests.

January 31 - DUE DATE for all students to have their course requests entered online using the PowerSchool Student Portal App.

February 

Entire Month - Current high school students (Rising 10th-12th grade) will have one-on-one appointments with their School Counselor to discuss course selections, graduation plan progress, etc.  Meetings are scheduled through their social studies class. 

March

March 20 - Course Verification Sheets will be distributed to all students.  This will confirm the classes students have requested (this is not a copy of the schedule).  

March 27 - Course Verification Sheets are to be returned to the School Counseling Office ONLY if changes need to be made.  If no changes need to be made, no action needs to be taken.

March 27 - The First Day of School

March 27 through The First Day of School - BLACK OUT PERIOD.

No schedule change requests can be made.  SPHS Administration and Counselors work on determining class periods, assigning teachers, building the master schedule and building individual student schedules.  In order to be equitable to all students, this time is blacked out for changes in order to fulfill every students' initial course requests as best as possible.  Please remember that not every course request may be granted and alternates may need to be used.  

The First 10 Days of School

The First 10 Days of School - Students will receive a copy of their finalized schedule on the first day of school.  At that time, if any changes need to be made, students will need to see Mrs. Abruzzo, Assistant Principal who oversees scheduling, in the cafeteria during the first 10 school days.
